About the Georgian Football Championship

The Erovnuli Liga is a professional football league for Georgian football players. This championship is organized by the Georgian Football Federation. The tournament results determine the champion of the country and representative of Georgia in the UEFA EuroCups. 10 teams take part in the championship.

From 1927-1989, the best team of the republic was determined by the results of the Georgian Soviet Union Championship.

The year 1989 was the time when Georgia decided to withdraw from the Soviet Football Championship.

In 1990, 4 amateur teams were added to 12 masters’ teams. All of them formed the Top Division of the Erovnuli Liga.

The FC Dinamo Tbilisi became the Erovnuli Liga champion 18 times.
