When is the next Grand Prix in France?

The Formula 1 French Grand Prix will no longer be held in 2023 — the event disappeared from the calendar after the 2022 season. Last race was held at the Paul Ricard circuit, but the contract with the organizers was not extended. The reasons were both logistical difficulties and high competition among countries wishing to host the championship round. So far, there are no plans to return to the French Grand Prix in the coming seasons.

History of racing in France

The French Grand Prix, which took place in 1906, is the first Grand Prix in the history of motor racing. It was held near Le Mans. The length of each lap was more than 103 km.

A prize of 45,000 French francs was awarded to the winner.

The history of official F1 racing in France begins in 1950, at the Reims-Gueux circuit, in the suburb of Champagne. Manuel Fangio won the debut stage with a result of 2 hours 58 minutes.

The French Grand Prix F1 has been held at seven circuits in its rich history: Reims, Rouen, Le Mans, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon-Prenois, Magny-Cours and Paul Ricard.

Paul Ricard is the only circuit in the Formula One schedule to be equipped with an artificial watering system for the road surface.

The French Grand Prix was the 62nd in the history of Formula 1. Only Great Britain, Monaco, Italy, Belgium and Germany have hosted more races since 1950.
