The UCI Road World Championships is the official annual event in road cycling, organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Cyclists compete for their national teams, not their professional teams, except in team time trials.

2027 UCI Road World Championships

The 2027 UCI Road World Championships will take place in France from August 24 to September 5, 2027. The road cycling events will be part of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships hosted by the Haute-Savoie region.

The Championships will be held as part of the larger UCI Cycling World Championships in France. The event will bring together 20 UCI World Championships across 16 competition venues, with more than 15,000 athletes expected to compete for 288 world titles.

Where will the 2027 UCI Road World Championships be held?

The road races will take place around Sallanches, Domancy and Pays du Mont-Blanc, while the individual time trials will be held around Lake Annecy.

One of the key challenges of the road race course will be the Côte de Domancy, a 2.5 km climb with an average gradient of 9.4%. The Men Elite road race will start and finish in Sallanches.

2027 UCI Road World Championships schedule

The main road cycling events are scheduled for:

  • August 29 — Men Elite road race;
  • August 30 — Junior individual time trials;
  • September 1 — Elite individual time trials;
  • September 5 — Women Elite road race.

The Women Elite road race will be the final road cycling event of the championships.

About the UCI Road World Championships

The UCI Road World Championships are organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The program includes road races and individual time trials for men and women, as well as competitions in different age categories.

Since 2023, the UCI Road World Championships have also been included in the UCI Cycling World Championships, a combined cycling event held every four years. The road world championships themselves remain an annual competition.

2028 UCI Road World Championships

The 2028 UCI Road World Championships will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from October 22 to 29, 2028. It will be the first time Abu Dhabi hosts the UCI Road World Championships. The dates were moved from October 15–22 to one week later to provide more favourable weather conditions for the event.
