The World Women’s Curling Championship is an international annual tournament for the national women's curling teams, organized under the aegis of the World Curling Federation (WCF).
2027 World Women’s Curling Championship
The 2027 World Women's Curling Championship will take place from March 13 to 21 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. The tournament will be the first women's world championship to use the new format, featuring 18 teams instead of 13. The teams will be divided into two groups of nine, with the group winners advancing directly to the semifinals. The teams finishing second and third will play qualification games for the remaining semifinal spots.
A total of 18 teams will participate in the championship, earning their places based on the results of the previous World Championship and the qualifying tournament.
Main favorites and participants
Canada, Switzerland, Sweden and the USA traditionally stand out among the contenders, many of which have been leaders at the world Championships in recent years. However, surprises are possible in curling — teams with a less high-profile past can show results and enter the fight for medals.
History of the championship
The first World Women’s Curling tournament was held in 1979. 11 teams took part in the first women's curling tournament. Switzerland won the championship with a score of 13:5, facing Sweden in the final.

Each World Championship has featured teams from the USA, Canada, Scotland, Sweden and Switzerland.
Canada has hosted the World Women’s Curling tournament 16 times.
