The Canadian Grand Prix has been a part of the F1 World Championship since 1961. Since 1978, it has been held at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (before 1982, it was known as the Circuit Notre Dame Island). As many drivers have pointed out, this circuit is unpredictable. History of the Canadian Grand Prix
The Canadian Grand Prix was first held in 1967. In its early years, the event rotated between circuits such as Mosport Park and Mont-Tremblant. From 1978 onwards, it became permanently established at the Montreal circuit.
The circuit was named after Canadian driver Gilles Villeneuve following his tragic death in 1982.
The event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After its return in 2022, Max Verstappen won the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
