The Grand Chess Tour is one of the most prestigious chess tour series. Besides, it unites several major international tournaments under a unified brand. First launched in 2015 by leading grandmasters and chess patrons, the tour gathers the planet's top players. Furthermore, it ranks among the key events in the FIDE calendar, albeit formally conducted as an independent commercial series.
Grand Chess Tour 2027
The Grand Chess Tour 2027 will run from April to October and feature six tournaments across Europe, the United States and Brazil. The season will begin in Bucharest and conclude with the Grand Chess Tour Finals in São Paulo.

- Super Chess Classic Romania — Bucharest, Romania, April 16–28.
- Super Rapid & Blitz Poland — Warsaw, Poland, May 3–10.
- Super Rapid & Blitz Croatia — Zagreb, Croatia, June 28 – July 5.
- Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz — Saint Louis, USA, August 7–15.
- Sinquefield Cup — Saint Louis, USA, August 13–27.
- Grand Chess Tour Finals — São Paulo, Brazil, September 26 – October 4.
The 2027 circuit will feature two classical chess tournaments, three rapid and blitz events, and the season-ending Grand Chess Tour Finals.
Players
The Grand Chess Tour brings together many of the world's leading chess players. Three players have already secured invitations to the 2027 GCT Finals after finishing in the top three of the 2026 overall standings: Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Fabiano Caruana and Wesley So. Praggnanandhaa won the overall 2026 Grand Chess Tour title.
The full player lineup for the individual 2027 events will be announced by the organizers closer to each tournament.
Tournament History
The Grand Chess Tour (GCT) was founded in 2015 as an alternative to isolated commercial tournaments. Moreover, its purpose was to merge them into a series with a unified rating and prize fund. Over the years, the tour featured between 4 and 7 stages, welcoming the world's top grandmasters.
Record holders include Magnus Carlsen and Wesley So, who have won the overall standings multiple times.

2028 Grand Chess Tour
