The event will be the 84th Monaco Grand Prix and will mark the beginning of the European leg of the Formula 1 season. The track is characterised by narrow sections, numerous slow corners and very limited overtaking opportunities, making qualifying and precise driving particularly important.
The Monaco Grand Prix is considered one of the most prestigious and iconic events on the Formula 1 calendar. The race was first held in 1929, while the modern circuit runs through the heart of the principality and combines challenging street sections with iconic locations such as the Loews hairpin, Casino Square and the Swimming Pool complex. Formula 1 has already confirmed the Monaco Grand Prix through 2031.
History of the Monaco Grand Prix
From 1929 to 1948, motor races in Monaco were held as independent sporting events. The first Monaco Grand Prix as part of the Formula 1 World Championship took place in 1950.
The Monaco circuit is the shortest, narrowest and slowest track on the Formula 1 calendar, while also being one of the most challenging. It is important to remember that the circuit runs through the city's streets, which makes it particularly popular with spectators, as they can watch the event from the very heart of the action.
Interesting fact: Formula 1 teams design and build their own cars specifically for racing in the championship.
