Spanish Grand Prix 2027
The 2027 Spanish Grand Prix will take place in Madrid at the Madring circuit. Formula 1 will return to the Spanish capital following the venue's debut on the F1 calendar in 2026. The new circuit is located near the IFEMA exhibition centre and Madrid-Barajas Airport and combines public roads with permanent sections.
The exact date of the 2027 Spanish Grand Prix has not yet been officially confirmed by the Formula 1 calendar. Organisers have already opened registration for tickets for the next event. Madrid has a long-term agreement with Formula 1 that runs through 2035.
Madring Circuit
In its debut configuration, Madring is 5.414 km long and features 22 corners, with the Grand Prix covering 57 laps. One of the circuit's defining features is the La Monumental banked section, which has a gradient of up to 24%. Cars can reach speeds of around 340 km/h on the circuit's fastest sections.
Following the inaugural 2026 race, the organisers and FIA began discussing modifications to the Madring layout. Several sections are expected to be revised to create more opportunities for overtaking. The final 2027 configuration will be confirmed after the proposed changes are approved and the circuit completes the required homologation process.
History of the Spanish Grand Prix
The first official Spanish Grand Prix as part of the Formula 1 World Championship was held in 1951 at the Pedralbes street circuit in Barcelona. Over the following decades, the event was hosted by five different venues: Pedralbes, Jarama, Montjuïc, Jerez and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya became the main home of the Spanish Grand Prix from 1991. The event moved to Madrid in 2026, beginning a new chapter in the history of the Spanish round.
Michael Schumacher holds the record for the most Spanish Grand Prix victories, with six wins. Lewis Hamilton has also won the Spanish Grand Prix six times.
