The 24 Hours of Le Mans is the legendary and most famous endurance car race that tests the endurance of cars and drivers alike. Races are held near the city of Le Mans in France. The car which covers the most distance in 24 hours is proclaimed the winner of the competition. Moreover, this victory does not mean achievement of an individual car, but of the entire manufacturer's brand and with it an increase in sales. Interesting fact: the champagne shower tradition originated in the 1967 race, when Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt jokingly showered journalists and company president Henry Ford with champagne for not believing the pilots would win.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the stages of the Triple Crown of motorsports. Indy 500 and Monaco Grand Prix races are next.

24 Hours of Le Mans 2027
The 95th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place from June 9 to 13, 2027, at the legendary Circuit de la Sarthe in France. The race will be one of the main events of the FIA WEC season and will once again bring together the world's leading manufacturers in the Hypercar class.
In 2027, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Ford, Genesis, McLaren, Peugeot and Toyota will compete at Le Mans. Particular attention will be focused on McLaren, which will make its Hypercar debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with two MCL-HY prototypes.
Dates and Venue
The 2027 24 Hours of Le Mans will be held at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France. Race week will run from June 9 to 13, with the 24-hour race itself traditionally serving as the main event of the weekend. It will be the 95th edition of the legendary endurance race.
Participants and Teams
Nine manufacturers are expected to compete in the premier Hypercar class: Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Ferrari, Ford, Genesis, McLaren, Peugeot and Toyota.
One of the biggest highlights will be McLaren's return to the top class. In 2027, the British manufacturer will field two MCL-HY Hypercars. Aston Martin will also continue its Valkyrie program and prepare for the new FIA WEC season and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
How the 2026 Le Mans Race Went
The 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans took place on June 13–14, 2026. Toyota Gazoo Racing won the overall classification with its No. 7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid. The winning lineup consisted of Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries.
Toyota returned to the top step of the Le Mans podium for the first time in four years and claimed its sixth victory in the history of the race. BMW M Team WRT's No. 20 finished second, while Toyota's No. 8 crew took third. The gap between the winner and BMW was just 10.913 seconds — the closest overall finish in FIA WEC history.
Inter Europol Competition won the LMP2 class, while TF Sport took victory in LMGT3 with the Corvette Z06 LMGT3.R. A total of 62 cars and 186 drivers started the 94th edition of the race.
History of the Race
The first Le Mans race took place in 1923. André Lagache and René Léonard won the inaugural edition driving a Chenard & Walcker. Since then, the 24 Hours of Le Mans has been held annually in France and has remained one of the most prestigious endurance races in the world.
The Circuit de la Sarthe is 13.626 km long. Its layout combines purpose-built sections with public roads, making the circuit particularly demanding for both drivers and cars.
Le Mans has also traditionally served as an important testing ground for automotive technology. Manufacturers use the race to test new solutions in aerodynamics, hybrid powertrains, efficiency and reliability.
